Baptism – the means by which a person makes a public profession of faith and discipleship. It is an outward testimony of the inward change in a believer’s life. Christian baptism is an act of obedience to the Lord after salvation.
4 years after my husband and I accepted Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior and our journey as Christians, we finally had a chance to publicly profess our faith last Sunday, April 17, 2016. Our dgroup from church organized a mini summer outing and our leaders offered baptism for those who want to. Ej and I both agreed to do it.
I know it is still going to be a long way and there will be a lot of trials and condemnation as we continue to follow and love Jesus. But the pain and sorrow this life could bring could never amount to the eternal joy and peace and hope that we have in Christ.
Baptism illustrates a believer’s identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection – the symbol of one being immersed in water and then brought up. We are now new creations – dead to own selves and alive in Christ.
Truly I say, we have decided to follow Jesus. No turning back, no turning back. 🙂
